Cards

 Hi Everyone,

I´ve been really busy this week working on my Christmas stitching, jumping from one project to the next and doing a bit of crocheting again – which I always seem to do at this time of year and then started worrying about how to send Xmas cards if I couldn´t even buy them locally due to our lockdown.

I sorted through a briefcase overflowing with my old cards thinking that I could repurpose some.  My stepmum who lives in Cyprus always sends me really pretty ingeniously repurposed cards but I only got as far as looking through  the cards and reminiscing all the afternoon .

Well, I could try and make some fabric cards using a gorgeous fabric called Heavenly Pixies by Michael Miller which I bought years ago at our local patchwork shop and had no idea at the time just what I would use it for.

And then some festive fabric, I´m getting really low on that, another one for the backing , some batting and I also added another stiff interfacing.

I did a small cross stitch greeting to add to the back  of the card and that´s about it,  Don´t think they look too bad.

Having now finished  these cards , I can get visiting my blogging friends and see what everyone is doing.

  1. Oh well done Sheryl!
We once had a relation who used to repurpose Christmas cards too, and although I’ve always wanted to make my own cards I’ve never actually done that myself! I’d love to make my own but yesterday we succumbed to buying some cards online!
Your cards are gorgeous, I just know they will be loved and cherished!
    Hugs,
    Barbara xx

  2. Lovely work on your cards, I really like the fabric and the little stitched message is perfect.
I usually use old cards to make gift tags for presents. Or I use them to embellish my scrap book pages.

  3. Your cards are beautiful Sheryl, filled with sweet whimsy. So much lovelier than store bought cards. It's funny how we buy a fabric not knowing what we will use it for, then sometime down our creative path we find the perfect use for it. The Heavenly Pixies fabric is gorgeous and such fun.

  11. Well, what a great way to create some truly special cards, Sheryl! I love them and I know the recipients will be touched by your hard work. I ordered my cards online, but haven't sent them out--it's so much work (I send about 50) and I may cut the number after this year. Fewer and fewer folks are sending out real cards these days it seems. Enjoy your weekend, Sheryl ♥

  15. These are so pretty! Handmade gifts are the best, even if it's 'only' a card.

  16. WOW, what a great idea for cards! I have made a few cross stitch cards in the past, but would never have thought to also use printed fabric. Thanks for the inspiration.
