Adding some colour

 Hello Blogging friends,

This is my first blog post of 2022 after having dithered about all the month wondering whether or not to continue blogging, so although we are at the end of January, I would like to wish everyone health and happiness for this new year.

I have decided on a plan for `Home decor sewing´, that is making things for the home or trying to improve what I have and started this month with decorating my hand towels with some crochet.

I bought some plain blue towels just before Christmas and wanted to brighten them up a bit, so for inspiration and colour ideas, I looked through the book `Crochet Motifs´ by Edie Eckman .

However,  in the end I chose patterns by Lucy of Attic 24, since I tend to muddle up British and American crochet terms when working a  pattern and mindlessly watching tv.

Trying to use up scraps of crochet thread wasn´t so easy as I thought because although I have quite a few colours, the thicknesses are varied and that decided my color combinations

Well I finished two towels with flowery motifs and leaves, and I want to finish the other two with Lucy´s crochet `Flora granny squares´  which I have been blocking and positioning but am not too happy with the colours.

Thank you for stopping by and looking.

Sheryl

  2. The motifs look fab. I'm new to crochet and didn't realize at first that there's different terminology for crochet. Things got easier when I figured it out! Glad you're still blogging. 😊

  3. Mejorar lo que ya tenemos y enriquecerlo es una buena idea y si es utilizando materiales que ya tenemos, todavía mejor. Tus toallas lucen bonitas. BESICOS.

  4. What a great idea and so pretty. I didn't realise they were crochet at first glance. Happy New Year to you too, coming from Taunton as we moved a couple of weeks ago. Chaos here but no doubt it will all get sorted. Have you thought of trying Instagram instead of blogging? Much quicker and it would be lovely to keep up with all the beautiful work that you do. xx

  9. I hope you have a happy and healthy New Year! So happy to see a post from you and hope you continue blogging. Your work is always so beautiful and inspiring. The towels are too pretty to use! Very creative to add the flowers and leaves, it really makes the towels special. I didn't know there were different American and British crochet terms, that does make it confusing! Looking forward to seeing more from you!!

  10. The colours look good to me. I know exactly what you mean about yarn weights - I have the same problem with my stash!

  13. What pretty, bright towels, Sheryl! They are so pretty I would be afraid to wash them :) I'm glad you are continuing your blog. I often think of quitting, too, but I do love having a record of my stitching, recipes, travels, etc. Hope you are having a wonderful 2022 so far ♥

Oh no! Don’t stop blogging! Or if you do ..... do think about Instagram!
I’d hate to lose touch with you. You would love Instagram ....... there are so many more stitchers to meet and lots of lovely projects to see - says she who is trying to return to blogging! Ha ha! Or maybe do a bit of both.
    Best wishes and hugs,

  20. I love your crochets pieces! The trim on the towels is fabulous! Do you by chance sell your pieces ever? I do crazy quilting and am beginning to do some wool projects. Your pieces would be a special addition to my pieces.

  21. I wouldn't have try to combine those so different colors together, but I must say that the result is amazing. It make me think of Odile Bailloeul work, a fabric designer who have those kind of blue, pink, green, very colorful pieces. Very nice. xxx
