A Sampler

Hello everyone,

A bit late with this post, the heat is making me and my needle melt, over 30º C today and I have done very little needlework to show this week.

I thought I might take a few photos of a Sampler of Stitches by The Drawn Thread finished in 2010.

This is the only alphabet sampler I have ever done, using 28ct antique white fabric and DMC threads.

A gorgeous design and I really enjoyed the lots of interesting and different pretty stitches, although I think I found a couple rather complicated at the time and substituted them for other easier ones.

The finished embroidery was originally made into a cover for my computer screen but then my son bought me a new larger screen and I just framed the sampler.

Must show you a pretty new thimble for my collection, kindly bought for me from Kioto, Japan.

Thank you for passing by, see you next week.

  1. Beautiful sampler. Looks like it was fun to do. Bet it looked nice as a computer cover too.

We're having a heat wave too. Good excuse to stay inside and stitch!

  4. Lovely sampler, Sheryl. The many stitches are so pretty; it must have taken an age to finish. Love the colours. That thimble is sweet; another pretty to add to your collection. Wish it was 30 degrees down here; I would love to melt....just a little. =)

  5. Your sampler is beautiful. There is such a wide variety of stitches and colors. It has been hot here also....80 and 90 F. I am always thankful that I have air conditioning so that I can keep on crafting.

  9. What a beautiful sampler - unusual too and a proper stitch sampler. Pretty thimble too. It was 36 here yesterday and we are expecting the same today. We too were out early in the garden - just finishing a few jobs round the house before I settle down to some sewing. Have a good week. xx

  16. Such lovely stitches in your sampler, Sheryl! I'm glad I'm not the only one who substitutes easier stitches now and then :) I do love those DT designs--her specialty stitches add so much to them.

Very hot here, too--90+ and I just have no energy for anything. Amazing the way heat can sap your energy...

  19. Such a lovely Sampler. I am working on this sampler as a book but have found `God`s Eye` stitch a challenge! The Embroiderer has made this as a BOM which I now have all charts and finishing pattern. Still work in progress for me. Happy Stitching.
