Smalls SAL - February

Hello friends and visitors,  Today  is check-in day for the Smalls SAL hosted by Heather at  Stitching Lotus, so if you would like to show something small that you have stitched this month, just click on my sidebar button for more information to join this group.

I embroidered this little pattern called Mon Journal by Veronique Enginger some time ago, but hadn´t got around to making it into anything, so this week I tried my hand at making a notebook.

Just using cardboard, fabric from my stash - an old skirt actually - which matched the design perfectly and the usual odds and ends for decorating.  I had to make a few holes in the cover to thread the pages with ribbon.

Not too bad.  I added a button on the side to close the notebook and then decided I didn´t like it and it wasn´t necessary anyway.   Some embellishments to the front.

I glued some rather boring paper to the inside covers which was what I had on hand but of course this would look much better with a pretty design, however I daren´t get interested in scrapbooking and all that gorgeous paraphernalia - don´t need a divorce at my age.

Thank you for visiting.  See you next week.
Sheryl

  15. Such a great finish, Sheryl. I love the fact that you used an old skirt for the fabric. I should go look in my closet as I rarely wear skirts any more and I think I have some nice wool ones that I could use for ornament finishing :)

I am the same way about scrapbooking. Would love to, but, I just can't handle another hobby with lots of "stuff"--nor could my husband!

  23. Gorgeous way to finish this little piece. I love the design with it's sketchy backstitch. Perfect!
I also feel the need for a rivet gun! I used to have one at work (for riveting insurance policies) and I regret not "liberating" it when I left.

  26. How lovely! You did an amazing job!

Also, do you happen to remember the brand of your grommet squisher? (I don't know what they are actually called.) Mine is awful, and I have several projects just waiting for me to buy one that actually works!

  30. Oh Sheryl, this is so gorgeous. First the little design which is so perfect for your notebook cover, then the notebook itself. What a beauty your created with the fabric, lace and ribbons that you had at hand.
All this lovely scrapbook paper always tempts me, too, butI know that I shouldn't start a new hobby. And thankfully there is no shop around here where I could buy any, lol.
