Adding some buttons

 Hello Blogger friends,

Sad days since my last post.  Cloudy cold days to accompany the heaviness of heart that most of us feel with the latest hostile accions in our ever becoming unsettled world.

I have been sorting out picture frames just lately and decided to give a use to two oval shaped ones bought from a charity shop years ago and never used.

Amazing how long it took me to hunt amongst my vast collection of buttons to find some pretty ones, it seems I have very few attractive or decorative buttons at all.  I chose  red specimens for the first frame.

Then cut a piece of linen to size and embroidered a few flower stems and played about positioning the buttons and some beads to represent flowers.

Not sure if I succeeded´

For the second frame, I chose white and yellow buttons.

and lastly added a piece of lace trim.

I like how these turned out, they were fun to do........

although both frames might look better painted with some chalk paint, maybe an off white or at least a lighter colour, what do you think?  At the moment I´m leaving them as they are until I know where to hang them.
Thank you for stopping by and looking.
Sheryl

  2. They are delightful, and I'm not sure you do need to change the frame colour. It might be worth playing around with colours against a photograph, because although I agree the frames look quite heavy as they are, I think if you make them too light, they might make the pictures fade out slightly and lose impact. As they are, the eye concentrates on the posies you've made.

  4. What a lovely pair of art pieces you've created using your pretty buttons and some embroidery threads, Sheryl! And the addition of the lace at the bottom of each frame is beautiful, too. I actually like the dark frames!

Such a sad, sad world right now--it's like a mist has fallen over everything. I truly can't imagine living like the poor people in Ukraine are right now. Unimaginable--especially in this century.

    Take care now ♥

  7. The two 'art works are beautiful, Sheryl. You have some pretty buttons there and with the stitching of embroidered leaves and stems you have created two exquisite floral pieces. As to changing the colour of the frames, I suppose it would depend where you display these pretties.

  8. These are amazing, especially so as they were freehand. What a great way of using up spare frames and some of your button stash!
Personally I like the darker frames as they bring the eye into the picture. But paler frames wouldn't look wrong. :)

  9. I think they are lovely Sheryl and a great use for your frames. I agree, once you know where to hang them you will have a better idea of what colour you want for the frames. Very sad and dismal news I agree, that horrible man has been sucking up to everyone for years only with this in sight. xx

  11. They are beautiful Sheryl. You really have a great eye for colour and detail. The frames look very traditional as they are and contrast well with the colours of the buttons. Hope today is a good day for you. Hugs Christine xx

  12. You're such talented to compose so lovely bunch of flowers! Maybe you already know that in French a flower bud is named a "button of flower". Both are amazing and an ewquisit work as always. xxx

  15. Oh Sheryl I love them both! They have turned out really well and how clever adding the lace! Depending on where you decide to hang them might influence what colour you keep the frame but I like the look of the dark frame at the moment

  16. They are both beautiful Sheryl! You are clever to make such beautiful pictures from your ideas! The frames are lovely as they are but then I am quite a traditionalist! I think Rachel could be right too that you could loose the impact of the pictures with lighter frames. 😁
These are sad times indeed, and very scary for the future! I’m terrified of where it will lead.
    Stay safe my friend.
    Hugs,
    Barbara xx
