Smalls SAL and G.G. SAL check-in

Hello everyone,
It´s time again for the Smalls SAL check-in hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus and late, but not too late to check-in for the Gifted Gorgeousness SAL, organised by Jo at Serendipitous Stitching - see side bar for button links.

On wanting to diminish my ominously growing scrap stash, I thought I´d make a few flower themed gift tags and as my friend gifted me the little flowerpot buttons, I may include these in the G.G. SAL.

I used different embroidery stitches, like cast on stitch and my favourite French knots.

and even adventurously tried some dimensional embroidery, like these picot stitch petals with herringbone stitch leaves.

real fun here but lots more practise needed.

Then with the lovely little flowerpot buttons, I added some ribbon, beads and  more buttons.

Now they are being saved for future use.

A Hexagon giveaway

Hi everyone,
Today I have a giveaway. A hexagon table runner.

I visited my daughter in Madrid last week and took my hexies with me to sew.  I wanted to mix some crochet ones, made with Anchor Tridalia No. 8 with some fabric ones.

I found it quicker to make the hexagons than to decide how to mix and match them.

Once that was decided I added a tiny crochet edging

and backed the hexagons with green fabric.

So if anyone is interested to have this table runner, just leave me a comment below and I will pick a name on the 26th of May.  Anyone anywhere may enter this giveaway.
NOW CLOSED

Until next week.

Smalls SAL - April

Hello everyone,

The last Friday of the month and time to join Heather of Stitching Lotus for the Smalls SAL check-in.

I retrieved a piece of stitching which had been relegated to the UFO drawer on my disliking the colours I had chosen, all two of them, sigh.

So, trying to ignore the colours, I made a pin cushion and stitched the little scissor fob, both designs by Danybrod.

A scrap of yellow fabric from stash for the backings and then a smattering, just a smattering of pearl beads.

and that completes my Smalls for this month.

Until next week,

Sheryl

The Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop

Hello everyone,

So pleased you have stopped by today, especially if you are taking part in the Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop hosted by Jo at Serendipitous Stitching.  Start at Jo´s blog where the participants are listed, visit the blogs and collect letters which will spell out a mystery phrase.

" This Easter Sheryl says she has made a fabric bread holder with different coloured sides"

"but I know better, she has obviously made me a new bed as a surprise"

"Why otherwise would there be an embroidered picture of me on each side ?"

"It is just my size, I can really stretch out"

"and the pretty pink side matches my sheets"

"perfect for all the family"

"Might as well eat this sticky hot cross bun as it has a capital `i´ on it instead of a cross, can´t have that can we?"

Your next stop is to visit Leonie at Fireflies & Cats in the Garden.

Happy Easter,
Sheryl

Smalls SAL - March

Hi everyone,
Being the last Friday of the month, it´s time to check in for the Smalls SAL hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus and share some work done this month.

Apart from some Easter stitching which isn´t finished yet, I started a small design.

before being waylaid once again by plants and other greenery needing attention.

However, today the little pattern is finished and made into a sachet which hopefully one day will be filled with lavender or somesuch to hang in the wardrobe.

and the pruning and trimming is also finished.

Thank you for passing by.

Roses

Hi Everyone,
I´ve been away from the blogging world for a week or so, not enjoying the delights of a short relaxing holiday soaking up our beautiful sunny weather of last week, but busy amongst the plants, flower pots, seeds and weeds which were all urgently demanding attention.  However I did have time to get some needlework done.  A holder for my Q snap frame.

I didn´t follow any pattern in particular, just that of a couple of tiny roses which I repeated and then added stems and leaves all over the place.

For the holder I chose from stash, a pretty fabric very similar to the actual embroidery but I worried that the two together would result too `busy´ so to lessen that possible effect, I added a velvet ricrac trim between the two.

The lining fabric is plain beige and some ribbon at the sides closes the holder.

The frame fits nice and snug and will probably not be seen again.  I bought it on recommendation from a patchwork teacher years ago while making a quilt and although fine for most people, it took an instant dislike to me, imprisioned my quilt in a vice like grip and rebelled to relinquish the fabric without a tug of war, so it was banished in disgrace to the dark depths of my wardrobe.

I hope to catch up with my blogging visits this week, until then.
