This year I thought I´d make a few napkin holders and started stitching an embroidery pattern by Olga at Live, Laugh, Love.
A sprinkling of speciality stitches and lots of sparkly beads in red and green, to which no justice has been done judging by my photos.
A piece of interfacing, backing fabric, different rick rack trimmings and a length of red ribbon to fasten.
I also finished my vertical wall calendar, a fun project which nearly fell by the wayside when I could not find any narrow green cording.
I had cajoled my local needlework shop into giving me an empty wooden ribbon spool and then promptly covered it with fabric and added a couple of wooden wheels to each end for decoration.
As yet it hasn´t been hung anywhere and I´m a very behind on decorating the house this year, only my little stick men candle holders have found a place to stand.
The other request from our hop hostess this year, is to mention a favourite Christmas song, My preferences have already been mentioned in previous posts by others, but I enjoy hearing the song Last Christmas by Wham. Hope you enjoy it too.
Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas.
Sheryl
Love, love, love your cross stitched wall calendar, Sheryl. Such a fabulous idea to hang it on a spool. Love the buckle, too, which highlights the day. Very pretty tree napkin holders. You have been very busy stitching ever so beautifully. May you have a beautiful Christmas, lovely lady. 'See' you next year♥
ReplyDeleteI too love your wall calendar Sheryl - what a lovely idea. Did you get the pattern from anywhere? Your napkin holders are lovely too. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching and finishing. The wall calendar is amazing
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Christmas post , love your Christmas stitching and your table setting is beautiful , you are one clever lady .
ReplyDeleteYou've made a good start on the decorations. It's probably better to have the house gradually decorated, rather than full-on glitter from mid-November, which the shops seem to think is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteWonderful christmas decoration. I like your calender.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Manuela
What lovely decorations! I really enjoy seeing all the decorations everyone has made. I love your wooden bobbin - I think your local shop would be happy with what you have done with it!
ReplyDeleteSuch nice decorations. We don't really celebrate christmas but I love to see other peoples decorations
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in the Advent Calendar Blog Hop this year. I love those two Christmas Trees, almost as nice as the one you sent me! Which I meant to show on my GG post this month.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at your song choice - I lost the Whamageddon Challenge on the very first day of December this year. The challenge is not to hear Last Christmas all December!
I have enjoyed my visit today. Your little tree napkin holders are just gorgeous, and I love your hanging Advent calendar. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely stitching! Those trees and spool calendar are beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteOh, Sheryl! I love your trees! At first I thought they were cross stitch but I’m so glad it’s possible to click on photos to enlarge them ..... it was like being there! Lovely to see your beautiful stitches! I followed the link to see the pattern and I have to say I don’t think I’d have your patience with all those stitches. The beads show clearly on the “clicked” close up pics! A truly beautiful table setting!
ReplyDeleteI love your advent calendar too! That spool was an excellent idea!
Your little stick men are just sooooo cute!
Wishing you and yours a really wonderful Christmas!
Hugs,
Barbara xx

ReplyDeleteYour trees are stunning, Sheryl--and what a beautiful way to decorate your table! And those little stick men--oh, my! I love them... The calendar is such a cute idea--great job in obtaining the spool. It would probably have just ended up in the trash anyway :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Sheryl!
I love all the different types of Christmas ornaments you have made! Last Christmas is one of my all time favourites too! AriadnefromGreece!
ReplyDeleteOh Sheryl, so many lovely stitchy things! I love your napkin ring olders, they are so festive. Such a wonderful idea with the spool, I hope you've found a place for it by now!
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing Last Christmas while in the UK, I loved it way back then!
Your little stick men are so cute! (!!!) The spool is a great idea too. Is the "counter" a belt buckle? I felt behind with my Christmas decorating too, but it all got done in the end. Your festive table with its fancy napkin holders is stunning! The little beads add a lot of sparkle which all Christmas stuff needs. :D
