Gifted Gorgeousness - March

 Hello Everyone,

Today  I´m joining Jo of Serendipitous  Stitching  for the Gifted Gorgeousness  check-in which is on the 15th of each month.  This  SAL is all about  showing anything  gift related  whether given or received.

Here is the rag doll which I have just finished.

My daughter requested a doll for her yoga class of infants to show them the 7 chakras of the body and I had an old pattern which I could use.

I  first made `Betty´ over 16 years ago when my granddaughter was born.  The doll is a cheerful soul who loves a bath and to sunbathe.

And here she is today and although she lacks clothes, and has tangled hair, she doesn´t lose her smile on meeting the smaller versión of herself, who anxiously awaits a head of hair.

I think we will make it different from the pattern this time.

It was fun making the wool hair and I like the curls, hope she does too.

I´m leaving the markings of the chakras for my daughter to apply.

Thank you for looking.

Sheryl

  1. Both dolls are darling, Sheryl! You are always so creative and the red curls really make the smaller doll so sweet. I've heard of chakras, but have no clue what they exactly are. Off to "google it!" Enjoy your day ♥

  3. Oh, I love Betty's friend's red curls. Betty looks as beautiful today as she did 16 years ago. What a difference a bath and bubbles makes. Sheryl, you have fashioned two fabulous dolls. Both are so very sweet. Love those faces.

  4. Those curls are indeed impressive on their own, both dolls are great. I have seen faces for a friend who makes dolls but not attempted a full doll of my own, perhaps one day.

The doll seemed to enjoy the special spa treatment ;)
I don't know about the Chakras as I am not into yoga but all I know is that it is a Hindi/Sanskrit language word meaning 'Wheel'

  9. I love the curls. How do you make the curls stay. I see them wrapped around drinking straws but what keeps the curls in place ? Just lovely!

    1. Not drinking straws Karen, the wool is wrapped round wooden craft sticks, soaked in water, drained, then dried in the oven.

  10. I love the wonderfully curly hair!
Although I must admit that washing soft toys is something I'm rather reluctant to do, being afraid that they'd never dry!
