Today I can at last show some of the gifts that I have been working on recently as they have now been seen by their recipients. Firstly I was asked if I would like to sew a quilt block for Shez as a secret quilt was going to be made for her birthday this Autumn and I thought this embroidery design about friends and flowers was ideal.
The pattern is by Gail Bussi and actually reads `Friends and Flowers make life bloom´ but that was not going to fit easily on my block measurements, so I shortened the phrase.
I added a few crochet flowers to add extra interest.
We then had to add a small beige surround to our work and leave a message if we wished.
I think Shez was blown over by the surprise and you can see the finished quilt and all the different and pretty individual blocks here.
My other two gifts were for a partner in The Tea Cup Exchange organised by Stephanie at The Enchanting Rose and celebrated just recently. I made my partner Eva a tea or mug rug - always handy whatever you drink.
The design is by Rita of Twinkle patchwork and I also made a small tea bag holder which might come in useful.
I loved the birdie fabric, a new acquisition, and might make another holder for myself.
Linking to Supermom no cape stitchery party.

So many beautiful pretties in this post, Sheryl. Your embroidered block for Chez's quilt is delightful. It will make her day bloom, as will her amazing quilt! Your block is blooming with pretty design, colour and whimsy. Love your cute mug rug you stitched for your exchange partner and the tea bag holder is adorable...the fabric is filled with cuteness. AND...the teacup and saucer....how gorgeous! I love the pattern, the red roses are gorgeous. As always, Sheryl, your post has sprinkled a little loveliness into my day, thank you!
ReplyDeleteAll such beautiful projects Sheryl! I saw Shez's fabulous quilt on her blog and your block is just gorgeous! The little mug rug and tea sachet pouch are just fabulous too! Christine x

ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoyed seeing what you sent your partner for the exchange. The mug rug is darling and the tea cup...gorgeous!
Lord-willing, in just a couple of weeks you should have your tea cup package as a delightful "little birdie" sent something your way {{smiles}} Love and hugs to you!
Cute quilt block and the crocheted flowers make a great addition. The whole quilt is lovely. Super mug rug and tea wallet. That is a fun idea for an exchange.
ReplyDeleteLovely square for the quilt and the finished item is gorgeous. Beautiful tea cup and saucer, and I love the mug rug and tea holder. Both so cute and useful to boot.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt block is very beautiful !!:) I had thought of doing appliqué work or stump work on one of my big cross stitch project to make a large tree. But that crochet flower addition is a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteYour tea cup mat and the holder is very cute!! Love the birdie print, so cute:)
You always amaze me with your sweet little creations. But you know when we make something for gift and plan to make one for ourselves, it doesn't work many times. I made a needle book and pincushion, my firsts, which I gifted but could never make one for myself till date:)
What lovely gifts, great finishes.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Martina

I went to this Flowers Delivery lady and asked for yellow flowers. She opened the store glass windows, took out some yellow roses, a yellow calla lily, and some other yellow, pink and green flowers. She then gently arranged them together and revealed an artful, beautiful, and unique bouquet in front of me.
ReplyDeleteYour stitched block is absolutely delightful! and SO creative! What a wonderful gift for your friend! And the teacup mat and tea bag holder are lovely. I am a tea drinker myself and truly love "tea things." Beautiful work as always. Such perfect gifts!
