I do hope that everyone had an enjoyable Easter and found a relaxing moment to do some stitching. While trying to get some gardening done and wobbling about at the top of a ladder doing some well needed decorating, I managed to get some stitching done and took a few photos of a bag/purse/bourse that I made for my daughter.
The pattern is part of a free design called Rose Garden by Manka Mintai.
I used fabric from my stash for the backing and added twisted cotton cording and a couple of beads for the drawstring.
I also took photos of the goodies that arrived in the post. I won Kim´s blogoversary giveaway last month and she not only sent the pretty pincushion that I won, but also included an array of useful stitching delights. I really like the thread holder as I have never seen them here and so hadn´t got one. Thank you Kim.
and while on the subject of Kim, she has organized a decorative thimble swap and so if you are interested and would like to join in, you still have time until the 20th of this month to sign up at Wisdom with Needle and Thread. I love thimbles and have collected them nearly all my life, have loads and loads, mainly indicating the place where they are from. Here are some.
And an example that spring has arrived here in Spain at last.
Beautiful bag and lovely collection of thimbles!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful bourse you made. I love this kind of finishing very much but have never tried to do it myself. Somehow it seems to be complicated to me. But I have one of these bourses, a very good friend made one for me years ago in a personal exchnage. It's a little treasure for me.
ReplyDeleteSheryl that little bag looks simply wonderful! It is just perfect :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant bag, dear Sheryl! I am sure your daughter must be thrilled with it:)

ReplyDeleteHave you any decorative thimbles from Canada, Sheryl? :)
the bag is beautiful! The stitching is just gorgeous and the backing fabric you found works so well with the design.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid you were going to say you fell off the ladder!
ReplyDeleteBet your daughter loves that beauty! What a clever way to use that design.
Pretty gifts from Kim so enjoy them.
Very nice thimble collection. I never even see commemorative thimbles these days. Maybe I look in all the wrong places.
Spring here too, yea!
